Been working on a new board game, called “Swinecraft”. I hand made a prototype and played a game last night. It’s really fun! Can’t wait to begin production on the print version.
My favorite part about the game so far is sentences like, “I steal your golf cart and drive away in it”, “I use the 10 foot pole to reach the doorknob”, and “you are detained by the bacon lover’s club”.One of the best moments in game design is when your game surprises you. In our playtest, someone discovered a great combo - if you’re wearing a cape, you should try to jump on trampolines. I love it when the game terms lend themselves to silly sounding sentences like that.
When someone gripes about how the new “Sleepy Hollow” is nothing like the classic tale… Then you look at their “about me” and find out that they’re a “Merlin” fan. XD
(Not baggin’ on “Merlin;” just sayin’ it was ummmm… not so good about following the King Arthur legends.)

Costco announced record profits today, averaging $10,000 in profit per employee compared to $7,400 at Walmart.
The secret to Costco’s success is paying employees well, providing benefits, and giving them an opportunity to unionize.So large corporations’ excuses that treating & paying workers well would damage profits are all a crock of shit.
Some advantages to the Costco model that immediately come to mind (but that many other large corporations lose sight of) are that happy workers tend to take more pride in their work and get more done, plus they are more likely to stick around, thus leading to lower turnover (and so no constant training of new employees).

For my non-US followers: These are one of the groups of anti-human rights, anti-religious freedom activists I’ve been talking about. These people in particular travel across the country picketing—among other things—funerals—with messages like “God Hates Fags.” These guys literally surround grieving friends and family members at FUNERALS and hold up signs saying that God killed this person because homosexuality is tolerated in the US.
